pros and cons for this series
Look at the things going for this series: cost, for fans and owners (in respect of most touring series). car counts 40 plus cars. Affordable racing at some of the most famous named tracks in the country. real grassroot racing. The things against this series: Economy sucks!!!! Traveling to tracks where no one in the area knows you. cars that our local track where street stocks are considered a lesser class (not that it is accurate but what most people feel). Starting a stand alone series with a market saturated with auto racing. Ok what can we do about the economy? is this really a bad thing for this series? I don't think so, All the people that you see not in the stands of nascar tracks that were there 5 yrs ago still love racing but can not see paying the outrageous prices. FKSSN is a bargin if the show is good. Traveling to different tracks? This is where i think youtube, twitter, facebook, forums and any other free advertising. What about if you have a sat race about 10 race cars go into a group to the local walmarts lowes or any other large shopping centers that are race friendly. Find the closest military base and give thousands of tickets away for military personnel. start a base. they'll by food and drinks and the track will be happy even if the gate isn't that good. starting a new series and changing prospective fans that this is a real race and not an enduro race: if you get people into the stands and but on a hell of a show then word of mouth helps. |

| Re: pros and cons for this series the idea of this series is great that is why I drove 1200 miles to attend the kentucky race. the execution of this idea is poor. was my point, unless something is done. |

| Re: pros and cons for this series Having been apart of organizing the Nashville race I can tell you that there is more than what meets the eye. Some of your ideas are valid and some are not. Just be careful criticizing the execution of the people behind the scenes. They do a great job. After all they have managed to get some very prestigious races. Who else in racing, at our level, has accomplished that. |

| Re: pros and cons for this series jj raises some good points, but as someone else said, its easy to say hard to do. I think there definitely is room for more PR, but it is still a tough sell. Bristol, for example, doesn't have a great local population and it is hard to draw people from long distances unless they have some tie to this series. All of the other venues though could support a big turnout with better advertising because they are in or close to larger cities. I do think that tracks like kentucky are the key. It is a good show at smaller tracks, but where the fans go nuts is seeing all out 4 wide racing. I think the neatest thing I have ever seen was the drafting at kentucky in this class. Never thought I would see that in my lifetime. |

| Re: pros and cons for this series I been reading ya'lls discussions about the series and thinking of getting a car and racing. There are several things that you can do to grow the series. The first thing is very simple. The reason people want to race the series is that all saturday night racers want to race the fameous and big tracks. Bristol, Kentucky, Atlanta, Charolete,Nashville suprspeedway, North Wilkesboro. Chicagoland. Man if you ran Darlington, would that be fun. How about INDY, DAYTONA, TALLADEGA. I contacted FKSS to try and race Atlanta since I am from GA. the reason why they could not do it was because Atlanta did not want to do it. This is the problem that I see the tracks are owned by the big boys, SMI, Inc. and International Speedway, Inc. (The France family) and they do not want you there. That is problaby why ya'll are not running KMS because Burton Smith (SMI) bought it To me these owners should promote all racing at their tracks. They made and making so much money that they do not care about any other series, especially lower series. The Dash series at Daytona that was canceled is a good example. Frank has to convience those people to bring this series to these race venues. I agree that you have to run them at certain times and working with other series as a percusser to their race (ARCA, Truck Race, or Nationwide if possible). Second, convince these track mongols with safety standrads. I raced Legends at Atlanta and bought a thunder roadster because we ran the big tracks at Atlanta and Charolete. Then Humpy Wheelar got fired by Burton Smith and Burton hire his son to replace Humpy as Charoletes president. Legends and INEX were Humpy's baby and without him the series went to the gutter. Also, about this time they had a rodster race in Charolete and there were a lot of wrecks that cause Burton and company some concerns. They ended the thunder roadsters series on the big tracks and it killed the series due to their concern to liability. So safety is important to them. Here again Frank needs to covince the mongols that things will be safe for their liability. If the series runs only 1/2 mile tracks then there is no reason to travel and just race your local short track on Saturday night. The big tracks is your only opition to keep this series and make it affordable. I like what someone said earlier Six events at tracks like above and see what happens. |

| Re: pros and cons for this series dwilk - if you look at the rules for the FKSSN's you will see that Frank has required extensive safety requirements for these cars, taking into the consideration of the type of tracks we've already run on and hope to run on......these cars go far beyond what people thank of as the typical Street Stocks. I would doubt if very many motorsports facilities require Street Stock competitors to wear head and neck restraints, but our drivers DO! As part of the FKSSN's safety tech team (both my husband and myself), we are VERY strict on enforcing the rules set forth - they were well thought out with the safety of all our drivers in mind....and towards any liabilities. |

Re: pros and cons for this series
The only real "con" at this point that I can personally see is the "lack of communication"... I, like everyone else here are just waiting on pins and needles for the next crum of information about whats going on! It truely would not be hard to help promote a race in any given area because we could all (most of us given enough notice) show up a day sooner and take our cars to somewhere like Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc. (where ever people go) however, We don't know where to go! Because "we" don't know what the powers tobe. are working on! I don't see where it would be difficult to do. If Frank could make some calls to local places and then tell us he needs 2 cars here and a couple more in a few other places and ask for some volenteers. It could get done! ( I would do it) More Comunication goes a long ways! |
