"Doomed" Not so fast

I would not run out and sell my stuff just yet. This series is going to grow wait and see there are too many good people involved, so we do not have as many races as we would like right now as soon as we put on a good safe show at bristol i believe we will get some dates. As far as the car count we have taken at least two cars to every race with exception to the first Ky race (we didnt even know about ) and the last salem race, have had three cars at most and going to bring four to bristol. If frank could get about five or six races, a couple at big tracks like rock, bristol, ky, and then throw the short tracks in salem, nasheville, with a points fund and champion for this series there WILL be greater car counts at the smaller tracks, everybody gets tangled up in points even when you say your not going to you always try a little harder to make it when points are attached. Have a banqet give away some stuff and everybody feels like there part of something special and are rewarded for running all the races, i think it would work but thats just my opinion. Thank you to everyone involved in putting one of the races on we DO appreciate all that you do and enjoy the opportunity to race in this series, and will be there at all of your "doomed" races.

Re:

The recurring word I see in most all posts is the word "Series." Look at the name "Frank Kimmel Steet Stock Nationals." To me that is akin to the "Street Rod Nationals" that come to Louisville, Ky. each summer. Street rodders do their own regional thing until it's time to come to the host city to enjoy the big show where it's more than a parking lot meet. Having known and raced with Frank for 29 years I truly believe he has the racer's interest at heart. That being said we don't see eye to eye on everything, but I'm in his corner on most things. I don't think Frank has ever said, inferred or otherwise let on that this would ever be a series of races with all tracks being larger than one mile with a point system . I think the intention was for street stock racers from all over can come to a speedway one or two times a year to participate in a "nationals" type event. I'm certainly not in total agreement with the way some cars have morphed but Frank had to start somewhere with rules he was familiar with. Having looked at somes rules at southeast tracks they are quite a bit different to ours. When I get frustrated asking myself "whadya gotta do and spend to get a top three" I come to reality as to what this is about. Of course Frank has a profit motive to get races but right now large speedways are skeptical but Frank is trying things to keep the interest until things change one way or another. He never guaranteed us a "Series" of races, only to try to give us little guys a chance to live a dream. I went to Nashville low on cash and out of tires. Had to change several major things to compete. We'd been on the road the two previous weeks racing in the CRA. Even though I purpose built my car for Frank's deal I knew going in it carried no guarantees and I could probably race it somewhere else. But it was the chance to live a dream that lured me to Bristol. It's been just that . I'd like to figure out how to beat Barnes but I know how good they are. They work hard and have earned the enviable position of having SPEC and others working toward continued success. That car is not that tricked up, just plenty of horses under the hood and CB is smart and can git er done. I didn't have the time and resources to attend Nashville but did so to support Frank. This needs all the help we can give it to succeed. Just remember he never promised us a race per month. It does need some promotion but that costs money. Let's try to appreciate what's there while it's there. Can things be better? Sure, I don't like getting hammered by the 5 and 00 but in everything there are the haves and have nots but there are a lot of us spending all we have to be competitve and have fun. Until these races get attendance figures up maybe all we can expect is a Rock and a Bristol per year and race our local tracks in the meantime. Hopefully it will grow into something more but remember we weren't promised anything.

Re:

I agree champ, sometimes we need to slow down and come back to earth. I also have faith that this could be one of the best "SERIES" around! I hope someday there will be an 8 race schedule, sponsors, and points. What ever happens everyone can count on the green #70 being there to support it! Can't wait till Bristol!

Re:

In my opinion The Nashville race was a success and probably about what Frank thought it would be. I'm sure with the purse reduced and fairly short notice he didn't expect 100 cars to make the trip. I wasn't in the stands but it seemed like a pretty good show to me. It was awesome of the Nashville people to invite us and I hope they were happy with everything. When we can get these Tracks to commit with plenty of preparation time and the purse gets back up I feel certain that the car count will not be a problem and as long as we can keep the cautions down to a resonable amount it will be a great show. Let's keep a positive attitude and see what happens.
